This is GEDCOMViewer version 1.0.0

GEDCOM was developed by the Family History Department of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) to provide a flexible, uniform format for exchanging computerized genealogical data. GEDCOM is an acronym for   GE nealogical   D ata   Com  munication. Its purpose is to foster the sharing of genealogical information and the development of a wide range of inter-operable software products to assist genealogists, historians, and other researchers. GEDCOMViewer is an opensource tool designed to browse through GEDCOM files. 
GEDCOMViewer provides a GTK interface and is GNOME compliant.

GEDCOMViewer has few dependencies. 
Detailed dependencies (including required releases) are checked by the configure script. 
Main dependencies are : 
* GEDCOMParser library (developed within the ghosts project) :  http://savannah.nongnu.org/files/?group=ghosts 
* gtkmm, gnomemm and bakery :  http://www.gtkmm.org/

What get's installed ?
======================
* gedcomviewer should go in the $prefix/bin directory.
* other needed files should go to appropriate directories conforming to GNU and GNOME general rules (pixmaps, po files...)

Installation
============
You should install GEDCOMViewer as any Gnu Autoconf package. 
For more information, see the file 'INSTALL'.
